El Paso County, Colorado

This project was completed for El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department. Like many counties, El Paso was looking at very tight budgets but still needed something that looked great and was very functional and would last decades to come with little to no maintenance.

This project was placed on an open bid. Several other contractors bid on the job with the highest at $157,500 and a lead time of 5 1/2 months. Not only was Paragon able to build and install this bridge for under $36,000 but we were able to do it in less than 6 weeks. Paragon was also able to provide, at no additional cost, site profiles that allowed client to see what a Paragon bridge would look like. Client was able to make a few detail changes that allowed their bridge to fit their application better.

• Pedestrian guardrails: "Pagosa Package" which consists of steel posts, wood rails, and steel curb.
• Decking: Cast in place concrete. Paragon installed the concrete pad as well as laid out the epoxy coated rebar pattern. It made more sense for client to hire a local concrete contractor to pour bridge decking as well as side walks all at once after bridge was installed by Paragon.
• Abutments: 2 rows of Paragon's pre-cast abutment blocks.
• Abutment Installation: Performed by Paragon's own crew.
• Bridge Installation: Performed by Paragon's own crew.
• Site Civil engineer: None.
• Structural engineers: Performed by Paragon.
• Site surveyor: No surveyors used. Paragon's own crew measured and marked site.
• Bridge vehicular weight capacity: Rated for 20,000 lb vehicles. Bridge was not necessarily designed for normal vehicular use but a maintenance vehicle can use the bridge if needed.
