Project consisted of a single 90' long railcar extended out to over 14'. The bridge extensions are designed for pedestrian traffic and also provides for a much more comfortable drive over the bridge.
Railcar: 90' X 8 1/2' railcar. Shipped from Arkansas.
Abutments: Paragon's pre-cast abutments built in Missouri.
Handrails: Paragon's Premium Brown Pressure Treated pedestrian guardrails. Posts and rails were applied on site.
Extensions: Custom built by Paragon in Colorado.
Decking: Existing steel decking was used as a final driving surface.
We hope you didn't miss the origin certain pieces. The railcar came out of Paragon's Arkansas yard while the extension ares were built in Colorado. This was only possible because of Paragon's excellent computer models that allowed Paragon to build these extensions that fit perfectly on the bridge after it was delivered and set in place in Missouri. The crew that Paragon set to install this bridge came out of Colorado. The pre-cast abutment blocks were poured for Paragon right in Missouri. At Paragon Bridge Works, we don't let something as trivial as long distances from stopping our progress.
One way we were able to save the client some money was by recommending we DO NOT paint the bridge span. Although it would have netted Paragon some extra work we felt it was to the clients best interest to leave the existing bridge span paint just as it is. At first the client was concerned as they didn't want to look at a bright yellow railcar but we assured them the yellow paint would be hard to see because it would be covered up by the extensions. As you can see in the pictures, the only way you can see the yellow paint is if you crawl under the bridge.
