Parts
Paragon Railcar Salvage buys and sells various railroad equipment throughout North America. While Paragon's focus is primarily on railroad flat cars, we have a plethora of information about all freight cars. Unfortunately, we do not know very much about locomotives, passenger equipment or cabooses but we can refer you to somebody who does.
Sales
Paragon Railcar Salvage, in an effort to focus on bridge work, no longer offers railcars to the general public. We would be happy to refer you to somebody who can better assist you but that market is quickly disappearing due to liability and the costs of storing various railcars. Its usually more profitable to cut cars down instead of trying to sell them complete.
Paragon will post railcar parts and equipment we have available on this site by following the links to the right. When buying railroad equipment, regardless if you buy it from us or anywhere else, plan on budgeting:
- $8,000 to $15,000 for the car body itself for hopper, and box cars.
- $12,000 to $25,000 for cabooses
- $15,000 to $25,000 for tank cars
- $6 per miles for trucking with a $1500 minimum for the car body itself
- $3 per miles for trucking with a $1000 minimum for the car's wheels (wheels must be shipped separately)
- $2000 to load the car body on your truck
- $2000 to unload the car body off the truck and on your property
Purchasing
Paragon is always in the market to buy railroad equipment. We buy railcars still movable on their own wheels and railcars that would need to be trucked out. Let us know how many railcars you have and their location. Please send information to info@prsx.com
