Used Wheel Sets
Paragon Railcar Salvage usually has several railcar wheel sets available and ready for immediate delivery at our Colorado facility.
These wheel sets are generally acquired when we receive a railroad car to our facility via railroad. Railcars are stripped down and reuseable parts, like these wheel sets, are saved. All railcars delivered to Paragon via railroad must meet AAR / FRA interchange rules which means that these wheel sets are usually in pretty good condition when we get them. Some are almost new with paper tags still on them.
Sizes: The most common size we see are 33" diameter wheels with 5 1/2" X 11" bearings which are generally considered to be 70 ton wheel sets. Other sizes do come in but not as often as the 70 ton wheel sets. Call to see what is available today.
